I have a PhD in medieval Deccan history from Osmania University, but I realized early on that academic papers aren’t the best way to share the stories I love. The history of Hyderabad is too extraordinary to be locked in journals.
The Qutb Shahi dynasty, the Nizams, the diamond trade, the biryani wars — Hyderabad’s past reads like a novel. And it’s all still here, layered under the tech-city surface. My job is to peel back those layers.
When I guide travelers through Golconda Fort, I don’t just tell them when it was built. I tell them about the acoustic system that let guards communicate across the entire complex, the secret treasury vault, and the diamond that was found in these mines that became the Hope Diamond.
The three experiences Ananya loves sharing most.
The fort’s sound and light show is touristy. My version is better: a private evening walk with stories the official guides don’t know.
Three different biryanis, three different stories. Paradise, Shadab, and a home kitchen where the recipe hasn’t changed in a century.
Hyderabad is the City of Pearls. I’ll take you to the dealers in Charminar who’ve been in the trade for generations — and teach you how to tell a real pearl from a fake.
“Testimonials coming soon. We're collecting stories from travelers who've experienced India with Ananya.”
